MetaMask is a multichain wallet that is easy to use. The following describes the setup of MetaMask and explains the simplest functions.
A multichain wallet can manage different blockchains and has the same deposit address. For TMNG, we are currently using the Polygon network and the associated Polygon (Matic) coin.
To ensure the highest possible security, it is advisable to use hardware. The TMNG Token is supported by Ledger. For applications like CrowdSwap, you can connect Ledger with MetaMask and use the hardware wallet to operate the platform.
Each wallet has a public address and a seed phrase or private key. With the public address, you can receive cryptocurrencies.
Note: The private key or seed phrase is your unchangeable access to the wallet. Safekeeping is your own responsibility. If you share this private key with strangers, they will have access to your wallets.
We discuss here the simple integration of MetaMask using a browser, specifically Firefox. To install the plugin, visit the MetaMask website. If you use a different browser, install the corresponding plugin for that browser.
MetaMask is also available as a mobile app. If possible, consider using a second device.
In the Firefox browser, you can manage extensions (AddOns). You can find the extensions using the button in the top right corner in the form of a puzzle piece. After successful installation, you should find a fox face there for MetaMask. If not, click on the puzzle piece or reinstall the extension from the homepage.
Upon clicking on MetaMask, the following window will open. In the top right corner, you can change the language. If you are importing a wallet, you will already have a SeedPhrase which allows you to restore a wallet or install it on another computer.
Only one wallet can be managed per plugin. To use multiple wallets, you will need to completely remove the active one and either set up or import a new one.
After agreeing to the terms of use, the wallet setup begins with a password entry. The password is a local password, meaning it is not stored by MetaMask. The password can be recreated with the SeedPhrase if lost.
After entering the password, you will see a note summarizing all important information. Feel free to also watch the explainer video about the Seed Phrase.
**The Seed Phrase is your immutable and non-recoverable access to the wallet.
The Seed Phrase in MetaMask is a twelve-word sequence that must be noted in the correct order. This code is needed to create a new password if one is lost or to install the wallet on another computer.
In the next window, you will need to confirm the Seed Phrase (recovery phrase). Enter the missing words into the open fields.
Congratulations! The wallet has been successfully created.
The MetaMask is a so-called multichain wallet and can represent various networks. All networks have the same deposit address. After creating the wallet, we receive the following image.
The TMNG Token is located on the Polygon blockchain. First, we need to select the network. We see the Ethereum symbol at the top left corner, and by clicking on it, the following options appear.
By default, the Polygon network is not linked with MetaMask. After clicking "Add Network," we get a list of networks. An extended view opens in the browser (Firefox). The Polygon network is in the selection list.
Pressing the "Add" button opens a new window.
We approve the implementation of the Polygon network.
After successfully integrating the network, you can now select the network from the top left, providing you with three options.
We click on Polygon Mainnet and confirm the notice below.
After successful setup and switching to the Polygon network, Matic is now seen as the main token. This means you need Matic tokens in your wallet for all transactions. The network symbol in the top left shows that the wallet is on the Polygon network.
MetaMask is a dApp (Decentralized App) that is constantly evolving. We recommend visiting the official MetaMask website or various YouTube tutorials to become familiar with its features.
