Palladium - the star among catalytic converters

Palladium belongs to the platinum group of metals and behaves very similarly to platinum. Palladium is usually a byproduct of nickel and copper mining. It is an excellent catalyst for speeding up chemical reactions and is therefore used in automotive catalytic converters.

In the jewelry industry, palladium is used to "decolorize" gold, resulting in white gold. The precious metal is also used for investment coins, such as the Palladium Maple Leaf. Palladium is also used in various industrial applications, particularly in catalytic converters for gasoline engines.
